Project Profile:

VHCB: BRATTLEBORO FOOD CO-OP & HOUSING

Description:

The Windham Housing Trust worked together with the Brattleboro Food Co-op and VHCB to build 24 mixed-income apartments on the upper two stories of the Co-Op’s new downtown store. The heat and domestic
hot water for the apartments is supplied by recaptured waste heat from the Co-op’s refrigeration system. VHCB committed $475,000 in state funds and $200,000 in federal HOME funds towards the housing in the $4.9 million development.

VHCB hired Intrinsic Films to document the project, and this video showcases the building when construction was partway finished. This is the second in a series commemorating VHCB’s 25th anniversary; another video to be released later this year will include footage of the completed building.
