"The Briefcase"
Or...you could finish "The Briefcase" and adapt it into a screenplay.

You must finish "The Scourge"
You should finish "The Scourge".

Any new ideas?
Any new ideas? Thought any more about "The Scourge" lately?

Site Update
I've started revising this blog to be the general home for all MI Films projects, rather than concentrating on just one. And there are more than one, believe it or not.

At Long Last
Well okay, so it wasn't a week. But at least I haven't abandoned the thing entirely, right?
Actually, once I found the time to sit down with it, I did get a lot of the work done that I wanted to. The script is mostly revised into version 2.0 now.
The only problem is that I'm now somewhat stuck for a proper ending. The changes Jason suggested regarding Karg's (formerly Drackon's) abilities being linked to the Elawine, and not to some less believable "powers," resulted in the whole shocker ending not really working anymore.
So now I need to come up with a fitting way to finish it.
Other than that, though, I think it's about ready to start workshopping with some peeps.

Character Names
I like Voss and Karg as possible names. I also like Gerrvin.

Names Etc.
With everything going on with our house, it's been difficult to focus. I have gotten some of the revision work done, though, and hopefully the rest will get finished by this weekend.
In the meantime, I've been trying to come up with replacement names for Drackon.
Here's what I've got so far:
Voss
Olau
Karg
Not a lot, I know. Any ideas?
Also, I'm thinking of changing Garret's name to Gerrvin, following your suggestion.

Script Meeting
So we had our first script meeting the other night. I think it went well; it was helpful to talk over ideas about the movie and the screenplay and hash out some of the sticking points.
I should have a revised version of the script finished within a week. As I mentioned at the meeting, I'd like to have a couple of read-throughs after that point with some key players, and talk about it some more.
In other news, I've been outbid on that Sony Handycam DCR-VX1000. I suppose that was to be expected.

Sound
I'm adding a new category with this post: Sound. When we discuss anything about the film's sound (music, effects, equipment, etc.) we can categorize it under "Sound" for easy reference in the future.
Right now, one of my goals is to have very realistic sound effects in The Scourge. Although you can generally find sound effects for just about anything somewhere on the Internet, at best they are usually 75% of the specific sound type that you are looking for. And the quality is rarely what is really needed.
That's why I want to record all of the sound effects for the movie ourselves, from scratch. This can be the start of a proprietary sound effects library. We'll have a lot more control over quality and characteristics of our own sound effects this way, and we can target specifically what we are looking for.
Unfortunately for you, Jason, this means that we are going to have to record the sound of my fist connecting with your face a lot.

Welcome
Welcome to the production diary for The Scourge!
This is what I hope will prove to be a very useful tool throughout the development of the project. Key contributors will be able to post thoughts and ideas here, and the production company will be able to use this blog as a platform for coordinating meetings, shooting dates and more.
Stay tuned for more!
